... Wind Advisory now in effect from 4 am to 1 PM EST Thursday...
The Wind Advisory is now in effect from 4 am to 1 PM EST Thursday.
Strong low pressure will move out of the Ohio and Tennessee valleys tonight to upstate New York Thursday morning. As this low passes to the west of New England... southerly winds will increase to 25 to 35 mph after midnight. Some gusts may reach up to 50 mph. Heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms could also bring locally damaging wind gusts early Thursday morning. A cold front will cross the region Thursday morning... with winds shifting to west and southwest.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds this strong are capable of Downing small tree limbs and branches... possibly causing isolated power outages. Driving can also be difficult... especially for high profile vehicles.
